According to Hindu folklore, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati chose Srisailam as their divine abode after a legendary episode involving their sons, Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikeya, making this sacred hill a symbol of eternal divine presence.

The temple showcases magnificent Dravidian architecture, featuring towering gopurams, intricately carved mandapas, beautifully sculpted pillars, and impressive stone inscriptions that narrate centuries of history.
